Project #2 - Open Brief : Final Idea

This animation will keep the traditional Egyptian’s typical artwork, cuase that what really interest and drag my attentionto this kind of artwork, and still be drawn in 2D style, there will be movement of the figure, but, not much, and it becomes more like a ancient belief’s animation, so, hope I can bring the sacred feeling to it.

The figure will be exactly the same with the figures drawn on the Pyramid wall/ rosetta stone, the will be music as thebackground, music like Sting - A Thousand Years, or any music that has Egyptian influenced will be the music, include narrator,as the story teller, because there won’t be any conversation between the character.

So, the simple way is, it’s an animated Egyptian drawing. Telling a story about Osiris, Set, and Isis.

Story of Osiris & Set (Story) / Narrative

Geb, god of Earth, and Nut, goddess of Sky are the first gods that abandonned Ra, the sun god. Geb and Nut married, and so Osiris, Isis, Nepthys, and Set born. Osiris married with Isis, while Set married to Nepthys. Osiris and Isis together they ruled Egypt, Osiris became Egyptian’s Pharaoh. Both of Osiris and Isis power were really strong and Egypt become one of the strongest
civiliization back those days.

Set, as the god of chaos, desert, storm, jealous with what Osiris had. He tried to find a way to betray his brother. Sneakily, he measure the body of Osiris, and created a coffin made of gold with the exact size of his brother’s body size. He then threw a party, indeed, he invited his brother Osiris. On the party, he then took out his coffin, he asked everyone in the party to try the coffin, and who fit in to the coffin can have the golden coffin. When Osiris tried the coffin, it fit perfectly, but, suddenly, Set closed the coffin and sealed it magic seal, and threw the coffin to the nile river.

Isis knew what Set did to her husband, then tried to find his husband, tracking all the nile river with a hope that she will find Osiris’s body. Months of tracking, changed into years, it leaded Isis to Land of Byblos. She finally found the body of Osiris, so she brought back the coffin back to Egypt and hid it, afraid that his brother Set found out and rage.

One day, Set went to hunt, and found the golden coffin, realized that is the Osiris’ coffin, he rage and tore and scattered all the Osiris’s body into pieces and threw it all over Egypt.

When Isis discovered that Set has scattered Osiris’ body into pieces and threw the body all over Egypt, Isis was really sad and, with her sister’s help, Nepthys, whose Set’s wife as well went search through land to find Osiris’ body. When all the body was found, with the help of god Anubis, the first mummification has been discovered, and Isis used her magic, and even they couldn’t bring Osiris’ body back to life, Osiris become the god of Underworld, judge the afterlife in the land called Duat.

Years has past and Horus, son of Osiris and Isis grew and become an avenger. He revenged his father death by confront Set. Horus won the battle, and become the King of Egypt. He banished Set into the desert. Set end up as the god of chaos/storm/desert.

How To Draw Egyptian Figure

(Step 1)
Egyptian drawing is simplified and stylized, which represent the eternal spirit
of the figure they depict. Ancient Egyptian drawing show figure from side view.

(Step 2)
The headrests and any decoration added after the figure has been drawn.

(Step 3)
Hieroglyphs are ancient Egyptian’s Artwork signature, and in every ancient Egyptian
artwork, Hieroglyphs always decorated as the background.

Requires to do research of what I'm going to do for my final semester..

So, I decided on more research about Egyptian's artworks, because of my passion since childhood with Egyptian's Myth.

Rationale:

Egyptian’s ancient myth has become most of my imagination inspiration since I was young. The art, the story, the god
and goddesses, and even the civilization, so, for my project to complete my year of study, I am going to create an animation
about this myth. There are many stories about these Egyptian’s myths, but one particular story that really interests me is a story
about their gods, “Osiris”, “Set”, and “Isis”. So, In this work, I will re-create the Egyptian’s myth still using the same ancient Egyptian’s
signature, the similar kind of artwork, and still using 2D artwork.

The story will be voice narrated, so it becomes a story telling, to create the sense of story, each different scene will be
changing from one Rosetta stone to another Rosetta stone. to keep it simple, the character wont have much movement, because
the Egyptian’s artwork is to keep maintain the simple sense of the figure, but still able to be recognized.

Mostly the figure will be drawn using Adobe Illustrator, because of the simplistic figure with less detail, and will be animated
using Adobe After Effect, because there wont be much movement for the body. I tried to look on a 3D work but, it doesn’t work
best, because I want to maintain the original artwork, and 3D is not the best to show this story.

* Dolphin can swim and sleep at the same time
* Flamingos are pink because they eat shrimp which have a red pigment
* A sheep, a duck and a rooster were the first passenger on hot air balloon
* A Chicken is 75% water
* The sun shrinks five feet every five hours
* If you were standing on Mercury, the sun would appear 2,5 times bigger larger than it appears from Earth.
* There are over one billion galaxies with each galaxies having billion of stars
